As a Data and AI Working Student at Orbisk, you're responsible for maintaining and enhancing the accuracy of the annotations. By using and refining evaluation metrics, you will monitor and correct any inaccuracies in the annotation process. Additionally, you'll instruct and guide the annotators while keeping the company documentation updated, ultimately, playing an instrumental role in increasing the operational efficiency.

In this role, you'll be involved in regular team meetings where you'll collaborate with various internal teams to address and rectify issues in the annotation process. Data analysis will also be a key part of your role. You'll utilize the proprietary tools to visualize the status of annotations and pinpoint any systematic errors. Furthermore, you will update and clear documentation, providing detailed guidelines and instructions for the annotation process and ensuring any changes are duly noted. Additionally, fostering strong relationships with the outsourcing partners will be vital. You'll run monthly meetings with them, guiding them through the expectations and standards.

You'll become part of a dedicated AI and Data team consisting of seven to eight people. This team, comprised of both full-time employees and Working Students, offers a diverse and inclusive environment that values collaboration, learning, and growth.

If you enjoy working with data and have patience and you don't mind being organized, being available to answer questions and spotting mistakes, then this is a job for you.

Working week

On a less enjoyable day, you're having back-to-back meetings which won't allow you to work on data for some time.

Firsthand experience

You notice a message on the Slack channel from the partner company. They've posted a picture, because they're unsure about the correct label to use. What do you do?

In the first step, you would start by investigating the image yourself to determine the most suitable label. This involves a thorough understanding of the different labels, an eye for detail, and critical thinking. At Orbisk, you place great importance on independent problem-solving, but you also value teamwork and open communication.

If you find yourself needing assistance, you would reach out to your team for help. Once you've gathered the necessary information or clarified any doubts, you would communicate the correct label back to the partner company in the Slack channel.

Growth

At Orbisk, there are various opportunities for growth as an employee. Several courses are offered, allowing you to develop yourself optimally. Since Orbisk is a start-up, you also learn a lot easily from colleagues with various specialisations. In the coming years, the organisation will also focus on international growth, which means more and more new positions will become available.

Working at Orbisk

Orbisk is a start-up with a clear mission: to make the global food system more sustainable. The start-up provides complete insights into the food flows of hospitality organizations. Orbisk does this by offering a smart camera and scale that uses image recognition to register which food is thrown away, when, and in what quantity. The customer can view this data in the dashboard, which provides insight into food wastage and can be used to reduce it.
