Vacancy
As a Head of Finance at Mizuho, you will be leading the Finance department, which consists of two committed teams: the Accounting Team and the Reporting Team, both led by an experienced Team Leader. You are responsible for accurately and timely leading reporting in a systematic way to all relevant regulatory authorities, to the Mizuho Financial Group ("Group"), to Management Team and all other stakeholders. You will guide the annual report process, ensuring full compliance with the relevant accounting standards and include all relevant new reporting requirements. Furthermore, you will lead all financial accounting and control activities, emphasizing the highest standards of data accuracy and data quality.
In this role, your focus will be on driving standardization, digitalization and automation within the financial accounting and reporting operations, improving efficiency and controls. You will also initiate and control the yearly budget cycle, guiding department heads and the Management Team, liaising with the Group and providing timely reporting to all budget holders. Ensuring timely and accurate corporate tax reporting and maintaining compliance for all tax-related matters will also fall within your remit.
Furthermore, you will coordinate and drive the external audit process for annual reports, regulatory reporting, and branch reports. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with central banks, tax authorities, external auditors and tax advisors will also be integral to your role. Additionally, you will foster and mentor your team, acting as a role model within the team and the bank and cultivating the company culture.
The Finance department consists of approx. 11 FTE, with 5 FTE dedicated to Accounting and another 5 to Reporting, along with a Tax Manager. Working closely with these professionals, you'll have the opportunity to shape and guide the department's efforts, ensuring that both teams align with Mizuho's strategic goals and quality standards.
If you enjoy shaping the future of financial reporting, driving automation and find it challenging to mentor a dedicated team while cultivating strong external relationships, then this is the job for you.
Working week
On an enjoyable day, you analyze complex financial regulations, guide your team through reporting challenges and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure Mizuho's compliance and efficiency.
On a less enjoyable day, you wrestle with sudden regulatory shifts, untangle intricate accounting issues and face tight deadlines, all while keeping Mizuho's operations on track.
