This vacancy has been created based on interviews with employees to help you get a realistic preview of the job.
Vacancy
As a Supply Chain Engineer at IMS, you are responsible for the procurement of technical components for the construction of machines. You are involved in all construction projects and discuss with the Project Leader what needs to be purchased, arrival dates and which specifications need to be complied with. After that, you create purchase quotes, purchase orders and order confirmations, and monitor the current order.
IMS works with 30 to 40 suppliers for the production and purchase of parts. Some parts you buy regularly, as they are used for almost every project. In most cases, purchasing requires more operations: many parts still need to be assembled and you need to go to another supplier for this. This results in orders following various routes within the supply chain process.
As soon as a project starts, you are in daily contact with the Work Planner, the Engineers and the Project Leader. You look for suppliers who can meet their needs, and it is important for you to have technical knowledge for this. As well as being able to read technical drawings and convert them into an order, you also need to be able to answer concrete questions about technical elements that suppliers ask you. Even after the order has been placed, you remain in close contact with the suppliers. You are aware of the schedules and if there is a delayed delivery, you will let your colleagues know.
In addition, you draw up monthly reports on purchasing targets and delivery performances. You have discussions with (potential) suppliers and make clear to what extent IMS is satisfied with the cooperation.
You are part of the Business Office team with three colleagues and one Manager. Your focus is on purchasing, but you are willing to take over tasks from colleagues during busy times. For example, you could support the Logistics Assistant with taking orders.
Acquisition in response to this vacancy is not appreciated. We do not derive rights or obligations from profiles and cv's that are sent unsolicited. Therefore, we regard them as not being sent.
If you enjoy being involved with purchasing, and find it challenging to work in a small supply chain department and therefore sometimes carry out colleagues’ tasks, then this is a job for you.
Working week
On an enjoyable working day, you manage to have parts with a long delivery time delivered earlier. This reduces the delay of the project and reduces the pressure on colleagues from the project team.
On a less enjoyable day you have completed a large order, but it turns out that it is no longer correct due to a changed design. This will require you to reverse and resubmit the order, which takes unnecessary extra time.
