As a Food Runner you support the kitchen, help with preparatory work and serve the food to the guests. As a Drink Runner you do this for the ordered drinks. When you are assigned behind the bar, you prepare the ordered drinks such as different types of coffee and cocktails. In the Service you are responsible for taking orders and advising guests about the food and drinks on the menu. The roles can change per shift, so no day is the same! You work together as a team and at the end of your shift you ensure that everything is ready for the next shift. Many events are organized in LuminAir Amsterdam, to which you can also contribute during your shifts.

You work alternately in the morning or the evening shift. The morning service starts at 10 AM and ends at 6 PM and the evening shift lasts from 5 PM to no later than 3 AM. Working week

LuminAir Employee

On a nice working day it the weather is nice and the terrace of LuminAir is full. The atmosphere in the team is good and the guests are satisfied.

On a day that not everything runs smoothly, some guests are not as satisfied as I would like, because the waiting time in the lobby is long due to large crowds.

Firsthand experience

A guest asks for advice and indicates that he would like to have vanilla ice cream served with his apple pie. Unfortunately, this ice cream flavor is not available. What do you do

It is important that you always remain friendly and understanding towards the guest. You explain that the apple pie is served with homemade whipped cream and ask if this is also a good option. If this is not the case for the customer, advise on other desserts and satisfy the guest in this way.

Growth

Various training courses are offered by the hotel. This can vary from social hygiene and food safety trainings, to a wine course or a first aid course. Whatever may pique your interest, may just very well be in the books for you.
