Vacancy

As a Transportation Representative, you will manage the transportation activities of your customers. As C.H. Robinson is a third-party logistics (3PL) provider without its own trucks, you will maintain relationships with strategic carriers that you can match with your customers’ loads. Your goal is to meet the customers' transport needs through C.H. Robinson’s transportation options.

You will conduct telephone conversations with carriers on a daily basis to request availability and negotiate transportation costs, and you will constantly work on developing solutions that all parties will consider to be optimal.

Working week

Transportation Representative

On good days, everything goes smoothly. All loads arrive at the customer without any trouble, and you are able to find carriers quickly at a good price.

On less pleasant days, you work on finding solutions all day long. For example, the Track & Trace system shows you that multiple loads are causing trouble.

Firsthand experience

You are organizing a load shipment from Paris to Marseille for a customer. You found a carrier, negotiated the price, and sold the load. When tracking the freight, you discover that it will not arrive at the prescheduled time. What to do?

Carriers must comply with international regulations. It is important to track loads, so in the event that carriers do not meet these regulations, you can point it out to them. In the tracking process, you might notice, for example, that the driver is not going to make it at the scheduled time because he exceeded the maximum number of hours a driver is allowed to drive in a row. So, you immediately contact the carrier, informing them that they will need to come up with a solution. Carriers are responsible for the agreements that they made. In the meantime, you let the customer know that the shipment has been delayed and why this is the case. Good communication is essential in logistics.

In the worst case – if the carrier is unable to find a solution – you have to cancel the load. You ask your co-workers if they know any available carriers and you try to resell the load to reduce the delay.

Growth

This could be a logical personal growth path, but generally, you are free to grow in other directions or work for C.H. Robinson in other countries. We encourage growth on an international level.
