At BlueHeart Energy, we offer a wide range of internship opportunities in areas such as Marketing, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Industrial Design, Production Techniques, Supply Chain, and more. Also, we provide both practical and more R&D theoretical internship opportunities. Below, we offer detailed explanations of two potential internships. If you're interested in applying for a different internship, simply click on this link.
As a Mechanical or Electrical R&D Engineering Intern at BlueHeart Energy, you will be responsible for carrying out work related to prototype heat pump testing. In the Mechanical Engineer role, your focus will be on testing and enhancing the physical components of our heat pumps. For those in the Electrical Engineer position, the emphasis is on the electrical systems, ensuring they function effectively and reliably. Your tasks will include preparing and conducting various tests, analyzing results and implementing improvements based on your findings.
Beyond the core testing work, you will play a significant role in documenting the testing process and communicating your insights. This involves not only reporting data, but also understanding and explaining what this data means in the context of the overall project goals. You'll collaborate closely with other team members using the Agile methodology to review results and strategize for future tests, ensuring that the information you gather is effectively used to guide our next steps.
You are part of the R&D team, which consists of seven team members. Your mentor, a Senior Engineer, will be there to provide guidance and feedback, helping you integrate into the team and grow professionally. This internship is an opportunity not just to learn but to actively participate in engineering projects.
If you like to actively participate and contribute meaningfully in a practical setting, and find it challenging to adjust to shifting tasks and evolving project needs, then this is the internship for you.
Working week
On an enjoyable day, all the preparation done earlier is paying off, and you are ready to jump into some serious testing. On days like these, everything comes together – the planning, the preparation and the anticipation – and you get to see the results of your efforts.
On a less enjoyable day at work, you face the challenge of consolidating all the information you've gathered into a clear story for a big review with the larger team.

Working at BlueHeart Energy
BlueHeart Energy was founded in 2016 to apply thermoacoustics as a technology in heat pumps. Thermoacoustics is a disruptive approach to generate heat and cold, with potential to revolutionize the whole industry. Over the past seven years, BHE has developed a thermoacoustic engine to power heat pumps in residential buildings. This so called 'Blue Heart' of a heat pump is sold to manufacturers. In the coming years, the 'Blue Heart' will have to be further developed and optimized. Besides this, we will set up our production facility, strengthen the relationships with our customers (Manufacturers of heat pumps) and set up pilot projects in houses and monitor these.
